Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090: Review

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 is the most powerful PC GPU. Better than the RTX 3090 and 3090 Ti. The Founders Edition is a good buy at $1,599 or £1,599 because it outperforms the RTX 3090 and 3090 Ti.

Compared to similar next-gen cards, the RTX 4090 is better, but it still trails the RTX 4070 Ti and AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX. The fastest card is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090. Like putting a race car engine in a Fiat hatchback, many gamers may not be able to use the best graphics card.

Specifications of Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Graphics Card

  • The best in its class.
  • Not as expensive as the RTX 3090 Ti DLSS 3 Frame Generation

  • Still very expensive compared to other GPUs.
  • Power wire for a 12VHPWR

When will RTX 4090 be out?

The RTX 4090, which is the fastest of the 40-series GPUs, is better than all other commercial game GPUs. If the talk about the RTX 4090 is any sign, the Ti might come out sooner than expected as a patch update. The RTX 4080 came out in November, the 4070 Ti at the beginning of January 2023, and at the latest, the 4070. Even the 4060 Ti has been out for more than a month.

How Much Does an RTX 4090 Cost?

The GeForce RTX 4090 is available in most places.

In the United States, the Founders Edition and other third-party cards with extra benefits cost $1,599.

On October 12, 2022, Amazon, Newegg, and Best Buy all offered the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090. In the U.S., the Founders Edition and cards from third parties cost $1,599. Some third-party versions may cost more than the normal price if they have custom cooling or are overclocked at the factory. Early stock sold out quickly because there was so much demand, but more will keep coming in.

Hardware for RTX 4090

  • The large graphics card may take up too much space on the motherboard.
  • Even though it was big, it wasn’t drooping.
  • It has lights, but we need to figure out why.

The RTX 4090 is big in every way. The graphics card, price list, and specifications table are all big. The Founders Edition is the biggest, even though it looks the smallest. We found out when we put it next to other things that its size might be a problem. It takes up three PCIe slots in a PC chassis.

Depending on the design of your motherboard, it may not be able to use PCIe x16 slots. I can’t use the adapter to put the glass side panel on my Lian Li Lancool 205 Mesh. I might if I had a special line, but the right-angled connector from Cablemod will work for most of us. The RTX 4090 is more than just a big piece of gear.

Nvidia’s new DLSS upscaling technology needs a GPU from the 40 series. The RTX 4090 has both a hardware AV1 encoder and an excellent NVENC encoder, which a lot of people use. Decoding has been possible on RTX cards for a long time, but this is the first time we can do it the other way around. Our AV1 explanation shows you why it’s important.

How Well Does a Video Game Do?

The RTX 4090, the most powerful GPU, is needed for 4K games. You can play games on an 8K screen.

The GeForce RTX 4090s were designed for gaming. These graphics cards aren’t needed by most PC gamers. This is stupid. It’s crazy. I like it but need to decide if I need it. Only some can use it. There’s no way to compare RTX 4090 performance. The RTX 2080 should be 70% faster than the 3090 in different settings, according to our testing.

RTX 4090’s Specs

Nvidia’s first card with the Lovelace GPU design was the GeForce RTX 4090.

The RTX 4090 does a great job with its fourth-gen tensor cores and third-gen ray tracing cores.

The AD102 GPU in the RTX 4090 was made on TSMC’s 4nm node, which makes it faster and uses less power than the GA102 GPU in the RTX 3090 Ti, which was made on Samsung’s 8nm node. Both cards have 450W TDP, but Nvidia gets great performance.

The RTX 4090 has a 2,235 MHz base clock and a 2,520 MHz boost clock. The RTX 3090 Ti has a 1,560 MHz base clock and a 1,860 MHz boost clock. Its huge speed gains aren’t surprising because the RTX 4090 has 52.38% more CUDA cores than the 3090 Ti (16,384 vs. 10,752). The RTX 4090, like the 3090 Ti, has 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM at 1,313 MHz, 1,008 GB/s, and 21 Gbps. This card is one of the few that can play 8K games due to its memory and performance.
